Thanks & appreciation

Employee Appreciation Messages

Employee appreciation works best when it’s specific, timely, and personal. A generic “thanks for your hard work” in a company-wide email doesn’t do much; a two-line note about something particular can change someone’s week.

Employee Appreciation Day is the first Friday in March, but the messages here work any day of the year.

How to write it

  • Mention a specific contribution or behaviour.
  • Tie it to an impact on the team, customers, or company.
  • Deliver it soon after the thing you’re appreciating.

Specific appreciation

  • Thank you for the way you handled the angry customer on Tuesday. Calm, kind, and they renewed.

  • I noticed you stayed late to help onboard our new starter. That’s the culture we want. Thank you.

  • Your documentation work has saved the team hours every week. Thank you.

  • Thank you for always raising risks early. It’s saved us more than once.

  • Your attention to detail on the report made it the best we’ve published.

Employee Appreciation Day

  • Happy Employee Appreciation Day! Thank you for everything you bring to the team.

  • Today and every day, we appreciate you.

  • Thank you for your dedication, creativity, and kindness. Happy Employee Appreciation Day.

  • We couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you.

  • Celebrating you today — thank you for being part of our team.

From leadership

  • Our success is built on people like you. Thank you for your commitment.

  • Thank you for everything you do to make this company a great place to work.

  • Your work makes a difference to our customers every day. We’re grateful.

  • Thank you for your loyalty and hard work this year.

Short appreciation

  • You make a difference. Thank you.

  • Appreciate you!

  • Thank you for all you do.

  • We see your hard work — thank you.

  • Grateful to have you on the team.

What to avoid

  • Appreciation that’s identical for every employee.
  • Pairing appreciation with criticism.
