Welcome & onboarding

Welcome Messages for a New Employee (From the Company)

A company welcome message is different from a teammate’s. It speaks for the organisation, so it should be warm but polished, and make the new employee feel they made the right choice.

The best company welcome messages connect the person to the mission and make the first day feel organised: who to meet, where to go, and that people are expecting them.

How to write it

  • Connect their role to the company’s mission.
  • Mention one thing that will happen on day one.
  • Sign off from a real person, not “The Team.”

From leadership

  • Welcome to the company! We’re building something we’re proud of, and you’re now part of it.

  • On behalf of everyone here, welcome. We hired you because we believe you’ll make us better.

  • Welcome aboard! We’re excited about the skills and perspective you bring.

  • Welcome! Our success depends on great people, and we’re delighted to add you.

From HR

  • Welcome to your first day! Your laptop is set up, your buddy is waiting, and lunch is on us.

  • We’re thrilled to welcome you. If you have any questions in your first weeks, we’re here.

  • Welcome! Your onboarding schedule is in your inbox — and so is a friendly face from your team.

  • Welcome to the family. We hope your first day is the start of a long and happy journey.

  • Welcome! We can’t wait for you to meet everyone.

For a welcome card

  • Welcome to the team! We’re so glad you’re here.

  • A warm welcome from all of us — we’re excited to work with you.

  • Welcome aboard! Here’s to great things together.

  • Welcome! We’re delighted you’ve joined us.

  • Welcome to your new home at work.

Small business welcomes

  • Welcome! We’re a small team, so you’ll make a big difference from day one.

  • We’re so happy to have you. Small team, big welcome.

  • Welcome! Every person here shapes what we become — including you now.

  • Welcome aboard! You’ll know everyone’s name by Friday, and we’ll know yours.

What to avoid

  • Corporate jargon that sounds like a template.
  • Overloading the welcome with policies.
